new Chelsea manager

Graham Potter, the manager of Brighton & Hove Albion, has agreed to lead Chelsea.

Following Thomas Tuchel’s dismissal, the 47-year-old began negotiations with Chelsea on Wednesday. It’s been heard that things went well, and he was given the opportunity to succeed the German at Stamford Bridge.

Paperwork is currently being drafted after Potter is thought to have verbally agreed to take charge and shaken hands on the deal.

In the event that there are no hiccups, Potter will assume leadership ahead of this weekend’s Fulham-Cambridge derby because Chelsea wants the deal to close on Thursday.

As previously reported, Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly has been in charge of the search, which began a few weeks ago when issues with Tuchel first surfaced.

Potter was always the top choice for Chelesa, and Boehly and the rest of the club’s hierarchy knew they had their man after meeting him at their first meeting. Boehly always desired a prompt appointment, and that is exactly how things have transpired.

Zinedine Zidane, Diego Simeone, and Ruben Amorim were among those mentioned, but Mauricio Pochettino—who has been jobless since leaving Paris Saint-Germain—was the other serious candidate. However, Boehly and the rest of the board were so impressed with Potter during the interview process that they decided to hire him immediately after the meeting.

Potter has a release clause in his contract, so Brighton has started their own search for a replacement.
