Ibrahim Lawan, 16 years old, has reportedly committed suicide in Kuki village, in Bebeji Local Government Area of Kano State.
A Statement released by Nasiru Habu Faragai, Public Relations Officer, Bebeji, Rano Emirate Council, said the emir had directed the village head to commence a discreet investigation into the cause of the death.
“The emir was worried about the incident and asked the district head whether the boy was into drug abuse. He also asked the father whether he had some mental problems or they had grudges with someone, but the father said nothing was done to him. He also said he was not into drugs,” Faragai said.
He added that the emir directed district heads of the council to embark on intense prayers to ward off similar occurrences.
The spokesman for the Kano State Police Command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, did not pick calls to confirm the report.
