Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, was charged with terrorism by the Nigerian government on Monday.
The federal government enhanced the counts in the initial charge it filed against Kanu in an amended process filed before the Federal High Court in Abuja.
The IPOB leader, who has been detained since his alleged kidnapping in Kenya and return to Nigeria, was charged with seven counts of treasonable crime.
He will now enter a new plea to a 15-count amended charge stamped FHC/ABJ/CR/383/2015 and signed by M. B. Abubakar, Director of Public Prosecution.
Trial Justice Binta Nyako modified the charge just 24 hours before the planned start of the hearing.
