The Federal Government of Nigeria has begun disbursing N7.3 billion to the remaining 774,000 beneficiaries of the Special Public Works Programme. Bank credit notifications have been received in the last two weeks, verifying this.

Earlier this year, at the Senate Committee on Labour and Employment's budget defense for Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) on Monday in Abuja, the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, stated that this will be paid shortly.

The Minister had attributed the delay to bank issues and indicated that the FG is determined to resolving the bottlenecks before the end of the year. Keyamo pledged that the ministry will make sure the monies were distributed before the end of the month. The scheme, which began in 2019, is planned to pay recipients N20,000 per month for a period of three months.
