The Oyo State Police Command said on Friday that the three women abducted by gunmen at Onipe on Ibadan/Ijebu-Ode Road have regained their freedom. The Police Public Relations Officer in the command, Mr Adewale Osifeso, said this in a statement made available to our correspondent on Friday.

He said the victims who were abducted on Monday were freed as a result of pressure mounted on the criminals by combing their hideouts by policemen, hunters, and vigilantes.

The statement read, “Oyo State Police Command under the leadership of CP Ngozi Onadeko psc, mnim, fdc has recorded yet another remarkable achievement in its fight against Crime and criminality.

“Today, Friday sixteenth April 2021, at approximately 0900hrs, 3 (3) abductees namely; (1) Adebayo Abosede ‘F’ (2) Ogunrinde ‘F’ and (3) Okeowo Theresa ‘F’ who have been abducted on twelfth of Aril,2021 at Onipe, a suburb alongside Ijebu-ode/Idi-Ayunre axis of Oluyole Local Government Area, Oyo State regained their freedom.

“Their release was a result of strain and significant intelligence from police in conjunction with effective Utilization of hunters and vigilantes who beneath the supervision of the police combed the suspected area in search of the abductees earlier than recording the leap forward.”
