Governor Ikpeazu Performs Groundbreaking Ceremony For Aba & Leather Garment Cluster (Photos)
Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has officially performed the ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of the Aba Leather And Garment Industrial Cluster and the Enyimba City Garment Industry all located at Umunneato, Umukalika in Obingwa Local Government Area. Speaking at the event, Governor Ikpeazu said Enyimba City Garment Industry, which is solely sponsored by his government would be completed this year while the Aba Leather And Garment Industrial Cluster being done in partnership with Total Value Integrated Services Nigeria Limited would equally be completed and commissioned before he leaves office. He said that Aba is a major contributor towards what Nigeria can showcase in leather and garment production, hence the need to provide the needed ambience for the development of the 'can do spirit' of the artisans.
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu stated that due to the fact 2015, the strategy of his administration has been to installation the blessings available in the economies of scale to make sure authorities gives commonplace offerings and permit Abia artisans to scale up their manufacturing abilities. He directed the contractor to work in step with specifications and make sure right things are achieved by developing a sustainable atmosphere to manage typhoon water in the environment. He entreated participants of the host communities to maintain to present their cooperation to permit the venture to be realized for that reason.
The Governor who expressed happiness that subsequently the State has provided a befitting vicinity for the artisans within the leather-based and garment sub quarter assured that his authorities could offer the whole thing needed to make sure that artisans inside the State occupy their rightful location in the scheme of factors.
Earlier in his speech, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Industry, Rev. Mba Eme said that the journey that started considering that 2006 is gradually becoming a reality as the inspiration laying rite has been finished.
He disclosed that the cluster could include 15, 000 stores whilst the Garment Factory will have a potential of manufacturing 1,500 garments of various sorts daily. The cluster too
can have such facilities as Fire Service Station, Police Station, Banks, Clinics, Toilets, CCTV Cameras, Standby Power Supply, amongst others. According to him, Abia artisans could leverage on the industrial clusters to sell Made in Aba products.
The Project developer Chief Chris Simon of Total Value Integrated Services stated that the Leather and Garment Cluster could accomodate leather-based and garment artisans in Ariaria and other parts of the State. He defined the mission that is a PPP association among his organization and Abia State Government as first of its type in the State.
