Nigerian Police officers Repel Gunmen Attack On A Police Station In Ebonyi State

It was gathered that one of the gunmen was killed during the shoot-out with the police. Similarly, a police officer was injured during the attack and is currently receiving treatment at the hospital.

The Ugbodo Police station located in Ebonyi local government area of the state was the one attacked according to a top security source who spoke to The Nation about the incident.

The supply brought that the gunmen released the assault round 2am on Tuesday.

“But they met stiff resistance from the police men on the station. In the ensuing battle, a Police officer sustained an harm even as the gunmen later retreated with some of them being hit by using the bullets from the Police.

“In the morning, the police went on a search of the timber within the vicinity and located the corpse of one of the gunmen,” the supply said.

The Police is but to verify the development as at press time as efforts to talk to Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Garba and the spokesperson, Loveth Odah have been now not a hit.

Meanwhile, Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari has authorized the appointment of a brand new Inspector-General of Police to take over from Mohammed Adamu.

Naija News knows that the President appointed the Deputy Inspector-General, DIG, Usman Alkali Baba as the Acting Inspector-General of Police, IGP.

The Minister of Police Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi, who disclosed the appointment on Tuesday during a briefing with nation house correspondents in Abuja, stated that the appointment is with on the spot effect.
