Treatment Of Gunshot Patients Lawful - Peter Obi Says Over David Nketim-Rex Death

Former vice-presidential candidate Peter Obi on Tuesday mourned David Ntekim-Rex who was shot dead by robbers in Jibowu area of Lagos on January 15. 

According to a story of the occurrence described on Twitter by Roy Mustang who distinguished himself as the perished's cousin, the 22-year-old was assaulted around 8pm while getting back. 

The episode has produced shock from the general population, with many calling for improved security. 

Mr Obi composed on Twitter that Ntekim-Rex didn't have the right to bite the dust in such way. 

"I'm disheartened by the executing of honest and persevering youthful Nigerian, David Ntekim Rex, in the possession of outfitted looters because of deteriorating weakness in our country," he said. 

"David, and in reality some other resident, doesn't merit this inauspicious passing in light of the fact that the Compulsory Treatment and Care for Victims of Gunshot Act (2017), makes their treatment legal." 

Ntekim-Rex was articulated dead at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH). 

Obi encouraged governments and establishments 

"at all levels to earnestly coordinate that discharge patients be treated without police report in accordance with our laws. The emergency clinics can advise the police regarding a particularly understanding while the person in question is going through treatment." 

He added: "May the Almighty God award David everlasting rest and his loved ones the strength to bear this indispensable misfortune." 

In 2018, as a PC designing understudy at the University of Lagos, Ntekim-Rex arose second in the yearly Master the Mainframe rivalry, coordinated by AngelHack a worldwide hackathon organization and the IBM Z Academic Initiative.
