The country’s land borders which have been closed since August 2019 can be reopened soon.
The Minister of Finance, Budget, and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, gave this indication in an interview with State House correspondents on Wednesday.
Ahmed said the presidential committee installation on the matter had completed its task and had encouraged reopening of the borders.
She stated the committee might quickly post its report to the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), following which a proper pronouncement might be made on the problem.
The minister did not, however, disclose when the report may be submitted and how quickly the land borders might be reopened.
Nigeria had in August 2019 closed its land borders to curtail unlawful importation of medication, small palms, and agricultural products into Nigeria from neighbouring West African nations.
