Before the End Sars protest began, so much comment has been made about the Nigerian youth. Most especially in the aspect of not taking charge and about their nonchalant attitude towards the affairs of the nation.

The popular novelist has former written a piece about the Nigerian youth before the End SARS protest began. Here's what he said in the piece he wrote.

" where did we go wrong?

Wake up Nigerian youths!"

Awolowo was 37 years, Akintola 36, Ahmadu Bello 36, Balewa 34, Okotie Eboh 27 and Enahoro 27 and they led the struggle for Nigeria independence after the death of Macaulay. Only Zik was 42 at the time.

In 19966, the first military coup was led by K Nzeogwu who was 29 years and countered by M. Mohammad 28, T. Danjuma 28, I. Babangida 25, J. Garb, 23, Sani Abacha 23, M. Yar'adua 23, and came into power.

Y. Gowon 32, Ojukwu 33, Obasanjo 29, and Buhari 24, most of the military governors who governed the states under the successive military regimes were under 30 years. Also, the brief democratic dispensation which interjected the military interregnums also saw some senators and members of the house of representatives in particular populated by persons under 30.

Under 30's were also not in short supply with appointments. We have examples of MT Mbu who became a federal adviser at 27 and so on and so forth. Now why is it that almost all the age bracket is today still sleeping in 3 seaters chairs in their parents homes?

Why is it that this age bracket today, still collect pocket money from their parents? Why is it that this age bracket is toady still writing JAMB? Why is it that this age bracket still " sagg their trousers? Why is it that this age bracket today still go in search for jobs and not yet married? Why is it that this age bracket today is no longer qualify to even be leader of youth wings in political parties? Why is that this age bracket is toady barred from even aspiring to certain political offices? Why is it that this age bracket is toady incapacitated, unwilling, unable and incapable of asking question.

Those were the words of Prof. Wole Soyinka and his concern for the Nigerian youths. Asking questions that the youths are finally answering by stepping up and calling on the government to see their plight.

Sadly enough the peaceful protest which was started with the intention of getting a positive result has been hijacked by hoodlums and turned violence. This has resulted to people loosing their lives and others hospitalized.

Sad to hear. These same people that started benefiting Nigeria at youthful age are still the ones looting Nigeria at old age. We find ourselves in a situation where the father is envious of his children. If not why will these ungrateful elements benefits a system and block it for others. God will punished them accordingly.
